Introduction

Hello and welcome to Graffiti from Pompeii.

A little explanation of the title and purpose of this blog. When Pompeii emerged from the grave of volcanic ash a slice of Roman life was revealed. The People of Pompeii may not have had cell phones, computers, or social networking sites, but they had the same desires of expression. So much like a ode penned in a truck stop bathroom, the people of Pompeii scratched their social updates on the walls of the city. These machinations reveal how they felt about their lives, friends, families, and their politicians.

So I take this title to show how each generation is not so different from the generation of the present. The people of Pompeii chose to live under a constant threat of destruction. The people of the present live under different threat (unless you live in California) to their way of life.

This not about the society of Pompeii it is about our society, about hold a mirror up and taking a snapshot so we can examine the details. So lets have some fun.
